God Provides Relief when We are Weary

Exodus 17:11-13  (MSG)
11 It turned out that whenever Moses raised his hands, Israel was winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, Amalek was winning. 12 But Moses' hands got tired. So they got a stone and set it under him. He sat on it and Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on each side. So his hands remained steady until the sun went down. 13 Joshua defeated Amalek and its army in battle.

Whenever I grow weary of a task I know God has called me to, I am reminded of this story in scripture.

God provided Moses with the support he needed to fulfill his calling.  Moses was called to keep his hands raised, but Aaron and Hur were called to support him.  The battle would not have been won without all of them doing their part.

Moses couldn't do it alone.

God calls us to do all kinds of things here on earth, but He never calls us to be the 'heros'.  We are a body of believers created to work together.

Are you feeling weary in your God given ministry?
  • Look around and see if there are people God has called to come along side you to help you 'hold up your hands'.  Are there people God has provided to take on some of the work load?
  • Look around to see if there is a stone God has provided for you to sit and rest on.  Maybe God has provided someone to step in and take the lead for a while so you can rest and be refreshed.
Prayer:
Father God, You provide for all things, even the support I need when I am weary.  In fact, You plan for that support before I even know I need it.  Forgive me Father when I take on the 'hero' attitude and forget to look around for those you have sent to work with me to accomplish Your will for Your glory.  Lord, You are my place of rest and my source of refreshing.  Thank You.  I come to You by the blood of my savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
