That Generations Will Know HE is LORD

Exodus 10:1-2
Then the Lord said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these miraculous signs of mine among them that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly wiht the Egyptians and how I performed my signs among them, and that you may know that I am the Lord."

Short and sweet today ~ It's not all about the here and now.  It's not all about me / us.

God had a reason for hardening Pharaoh's heart:
  • Prove to all who He is
  • Establish His authority for future generations
When my present circumstances are not what I'd like them to be, what do my children see?

A whiner and complainer OR a prayerful seeker of Christ?

When my circumstances are improved, what do my children see?

A blind eye to the working of God OR a grateful heart praising God?

What story is God working out in our lives today so that our children and grandchildren will know that He is Lord?

Today's verse is a great reminder for us to respond in all circumstances with a heart that honors God so that generations to come will be drawn to Him by what they saw in us.

Prayer:
Lord God, I confess that I have failed You at times with a 'what's in it for me' response. Forgive me for focusing only on the here and now and give me eyes to see that what may be hard now is for Your glory later.  I want to honor You Lord with my responses and my actions.  I do not want to be a stumbling block for my children and my children's children.  When others saw an innocent man on the cross, You saw eternity with me.  Oh that I would have the heart of Christ, willing to endure now for the blessing of Your kingdom throughout eternity.  I come to You Lord, in the name of Christ.  Amen.
